The Minister of Water and Electricity, Eng. Abdullah Al-Hussayien, signed here today a contract of comprehensive review to evaluate the sector of water and sewerage in the city of Riyadh with the French firm "Violia" within the framework of the current process of the sector's privatization through contracts of partnership. Under this contract, Violia will asses the situation by conducting surveys of networks, studying clients' reviews and offering good proposals on the need of the Kingdom's regions in the sphere of infrastructure projects. It is worth mentioning that the targeted cities in the ministry plan to privatize this sector are Riyadh, Madinah, Dammam, Al-Khobar and Jeddah. A contract for Jeddah city will be signed soon. Also, Eng. Al-Hussayien also signed today with Booz Allen & Hamelton Company a contract of transitive plan for privatization and the development of organizational structure of the ministry and its departments. Eng. Al-Hussayien patronized last Tuesday a workshop organized by Booz Allen & Hamelton Company to make a briefing about the plan and set initial estimates of the needed investments during the next twenty years which are likely to be SR 140 billion in this sector. He ordered the formation of a working team to set a strategic plan to privatize and improve the performance of the sector of water and sewerage.
