The Washington-based MOSAIC Charity Foundation celebrated here today its 8th annual festival under the patronage of its honorary chairman Lora Bush and with the attendance of Princess Haifa Alfaisal, President of the foundation's Board of Trustees. A number of prominent Arab and U.S. community dignitaries also took part in the event which crowns the six-month cultural season held under the title "the west looks to the east" including nine lectures on Islamic civilization's values and heritage and its impact on the world civilizations. The foundation has donated a total of more than seven million U.S. dollars since its establishment in 1998. This year's donation was allocated for MOSAIC initiative for distance medicine in collaboration with the Washington-based National Center for Children Medicine, it was announced during the festival. The network is scheduled to commence its fist phase by linking pediatrics specialists in the States and Morocco. It was also announced that MOSAIC is planning to set up an Arab Cultural Center in Washington aiming at enhancing cultural ties between the United States and the Arab world countries. In a statement to mark the occasion, Princess Haifa expressed the interest of the foundation to support the programs aiming at taking care of children and maternity in the Arab world and benefiting from the transfer of advanced medical expertise in this field. --More 2311 Local Time 2011 GMT
