Five Nepalese children were killed and three wounded when a bomb they were playing with exploded, the army said Sunday. The Royal Nepalese army said the bomb had been planted by Maoist rebels. The army's claim couldn't be verified, but the area where the blast took place is under rebel control. The children found the device on Saturday in the village of Pakhapani, about 400 kilometers (250 miles) west of Katmandu. Five of the children, aged between three and 13, died instantly when the bomb exploded, the army said. The three wounded children were being treated and are in stable condition, the army said.
