Quds city, April 19, SPA -- Israeli Cabinet ministers opened deliberations Tuesday on whether to delay the Gaza Strip evacuation. The fractious meeting broke up without a decision on whether to postpone the withdrawal from July 25 to Aug. 15, participants said. Israel Radio said a decision likely wouldn't be taken until the political echelon consulted with security forces. "Any delay would broadcast weakness. Any delay would broadcast vacillation," said Interior Minister Ophir Pines-Paz of the Labor Party, which joined the government to help push the pullout through. After Tuesday's meeting, Pines-Paz said the original timeline remained in effect but that changes were possible. He said he expected more talks soon.
