A two-kilo, 45-day infant has undergone a surgery, the first of its kind in the kingdom, during which a speculum was used to tie a venous link between a coronary artery and a pulmonary one. The infant is in a stable condition. The surgery, which was performed at King Fahd Medical City in Riyadh, is a unique one worldwide since it is rare to perform such operations using a speculum in many international medical centers specialized in infants of such size because such operations are dangerous and need specific human and material capabilities.
