A Saudi medical team, led by Dr. Mohammed Al-Mihaidly, Senior Surgeon at Riyadh Armed Forces Hospital, has successfully performed a rare operation to link the lower part with the upper part of a newly born baby's esophagus. Following the operation in which doctors used surgical endoscope, Dr. Al-Mihaidly told reporters that the operation is considered among the most complicated in the world and that require advanced operation rooms and support specializations. On her part, Dr. Asia Al-Rawaf, Head of Pediatrics Surgery Department at the hospital, said the 3-kilo one-week old patient is expected to recover soon.
