King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has established a water supply network to deliver potable water to the dwellers of Al-Makha district in Taiz governorate in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The project comprises four water wells equipped with four pumps operating by solar power and generators as well as a storage tank with a capacity of 425 cubic meters with a pumping unit to transfer water from the tank to Al-Makha's reservoir. Moreover, the project included improving the infrastructure in this water field, including by constructing fences to protect the solar panels and building control and equipment rooms at each well. Work to improve the water field's infrastructure also included the establishment of a water network linking the wells and the storage tank, in addition to the construction of water supply points that serve the dwellers around the water field. The project aims to deliver safe and healthy water for 120,000 people who live in and around Al-Makha and find sustainable solutions to improve the water supplies, given that clean and potable water is a basic right for every human being. These efforts are part of the water supply and environmental sanitation projects implemented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through KSrelief to secure sources of water safe for drinking and use in Yemen.
