Death toll 612 in quake that struck Iran Tuesday

The death toll from the earthquake that struck Tuesday near Zarand has risen to 612 people, state-television network IRIB reported Saturday.
Interior ministry officials said about 8,000 homes in 40 villages were damaged or destroyed. Fourteen hundred people were injured.
