An explosion on a bus in a district of Baghdad on Saturday killed 17 people and wounded 41, police said. Witnesses and the U.S. military said a man wearing an explosives-laden vest got on the bus in the Khadamiya neighbourhood and blew himself up. Earlier police said five people were killed and 46 wounded. The attack came on Ashura, a ceremony that is an important date in the Muslim religious calendar.
