Two electricity workers were killed and another injured when mortar shells landed on an electricity station on Saturday in al-Mussayeb, 60 kilometres south of Baghdad, station workers said, according to DPA. The shelling killed one engineer and one manual worker, injured another manual worker and forced the suspension of generating electricity that feeds central and southern Baghdad areas, according to station workers. An explosive-laden car detonated in front of a restaurant in a residential area in eastern Baghdad on Saturday, witnesses said. The blast that occurred on Palestine Street left a number of people injured, according to witness, but it was not immediately clear whether the car was driven by a suicide bomber or was remote-controlled. In further violence, a roadside bomb explosion killed three Iraqi troops and wounded eight others on Sunday in a southern Baghdad suburb, Iraqi police sources said. The bomb exploded while the Iraqi police patrol was passing through al-Doura neighbourhood south of Baghdad, where armed attacks by gunmen are widespread, the sources said. --SP 21 15 Local Time 18 15 GMT
