The Gulf Defense Conference, organized on the fringes of the Seventh International Defense Conference, was inaugurated here today by the United Arab Emirates Minister of Education, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al-Nahyan. In a related development, UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahayan said his country has attained remarkable success in organization of defense and economic exhibitions within a short span of time. In a statement to the UAE's News Agency "WAM" on the occasion of a defense exhibition, which will be open up to Feb. 17, 2005, Sheikh Khalifa noted that his country has become a major center for organization of specialized exhibitions in the Arab region. He attributed the success attained by the UAE in organizing exhibitions to the developed services and modern infrastructure available in the country. "Diversification of sources of weapons reflects the principle adopted by his country in its balanced relations with others," he added.
