The Commission for the Electricity Grid Project, linking member states of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is now ready to announce the tender in the second week of February for the first phase of the project between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar. The total cost of the first phase is $1.25 billion. The decision to announce the tender was taken at a meeting of the Commission, which was held today in Riyadh. The meeting was chaired by the Head of the Commission's Council Dr. Saleh bin Hussein Al-awaji. The meeting also approved another bid for the territory of the sea- line cable between the Kingdom and Bahrain as well as awarded this tender to a company. The GCC is made up of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.
