The Government of Jordan on Thursday welcomed the announcement of Yemeni President Abd-Rabbo Mansour Hadi to establish a Presidential Leadership Council - according to the Yemeni constitution and the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanisms - and delegating the council with all powers of the president of the republic to proceed with the duties of the transitional period. In a statement, Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates' spokesperson Ambassador Haitham Abu Ful said that Jordan supports efforts to reach a political solution for the Yemeni crisis, based on the approved references, namely the GCC initiative and its executive mechanisms, the Yemeni Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference, and the UN Security Council resolution No. 2216 to bring peace, safety and security in Yemen and end the suffering of its people. The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan commended economic support offered by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to Yemen to support the Yemeni economy, alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and to finance the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) announced by the United Nations.
