British tourists, who, along with others, were stranded at Medhufushi and Meemu islands (Maldives), devastated by Tsunami disaster, have expressed their gratitude to sailors of Pakistan Navy for rescuing them. A British tourist Mrs. Deborah Parrott in her letter to Pakistan High Commissioner (ambassador) to London Dr. Maleeha Lodhi said _the sailors of Pakistan Navy's ship 'Tariq' not only rescued us rather they showed us unforgettable kindness and were a very real credit to your country, everyone of the sailors I met were the very best of ambassadors." "Despite having near 300 tourists on board the hospitality we received was exception. They cooked two meals for us, we were visited by many officers from the Captain to downwards who enquired if we needed anything else," said Hogan. He said, "the sea was very rough and only the expertise of the Tariq crew and the local fishermen got us on board." In her letter to Hogan, Dr. Lodhi said that his sentiments had been conveyed to Pakistan Navy. Pakistan Navy ship Tariq, a Type 21 Frigate and PNS NASR, a logistic support ship, were on routine deployment in the region and participated in the rescue operation. Commodore Asif Sandila, PN Mission Commander on Board PNS Tariq prepared a plan in consultation with Malidivan authorities called 'Operation MADAD' to do the job.
