Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf has welcomed the statement issued by the UN Security Council, which condemned the terrorist attacks of Houthi militia on the territory of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its civilian facilities. He pointed out that the issuance of this statement by the UN Security Council comes as an affirmation of the importance attached by the international community, represented by the Security Council, to the Yemeni crisis that the Houthi militia created through its coup against the constitutional legitimacy, stressing GCC's firm position on ending Yemeni crisis through a political solution in accordance with the three references, represented by the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and Security Council Resolution 2216. Dr. Al-Hajraf also stressed the importance of implementing Riyadh Agreement, calling on Houthi militia to respond to the calls for a ceasefire, and to positively engage in the efforts made by the United Nations and its Special Envoy for Yemen to resume political consultations between the Yemeni parties without preconditions to achieve security and stability for Yemen, and to address the deterioration of the situation in Yemen and the humanitarian situation resulting from the continued practices of Houthi militia in besieging cities and preventing humanitarian aid from reaching Yemeni areas in need.
