Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States, Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf affirmed the GCC's support to Yemen and the Yemeni people in light of the constitutional legitimacy and in accordance with the GCC initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue and UN Security Council Resolution No. 2216. This came during a phone call today with Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak. Al-Hajraf stressed GCC's firm position in supporting Yemen and enhancing its security and stability by supporting the efforts of the Yemeni government that is carrying out its work from Aden despite all challenges. They reviewed the efforts exerted by UN Secretary General's Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths, the US Envoy for Yemen Timothy Lenderking and the international efforts to solve the Yemeni crisis. They also stressed the importance of coordination to call on the international community to put pressure on the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militia to stop its attack on Marib and targeting civilians, as well as the need to allow the UN technical team to inspect the Safer oil tanker in order to avoid an environmental and economic catastrophe.
