Bulgarian police said Monday they seized a major cocaine shipment, worth around four million dollars, and made three arrests, the novinite.com news site reported. The drugs were intercepted in the Black Sea port of Burgas. Two nationals from the Maldives, using a banana trading firm as a front, and a Lithuanian buyer were arrested, a top police official was quoted as saying. Police was still searching for other suspects, the report said. It was not clear where the narcotics were shipped from. Bulgaria is on the pathway of international drug smugglers. Large shipments of heroin and other narcotics are frequently intercepted at its borders with Turkey and Serbia.
