In line with the directives of Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, the operation of separation of the Polish Siamese twins began at King Abdulaziz National Guard Medical City here on Monday morning. The operation is conducted by a 50-member Saudi medical team, including surgeons, physicians, technicians and nurses, under the leadership of Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabee'a, the Executive Director General of Health Affairs at the National Guard. The surgical operation, which is expected to take about 15 hours, will be conducted at the expense of Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz. Dr Mohammed Jamal, the Head of the anesthetization team, said the anesthetization process was successfully conducted, and added that the health condition of the Polish twins: Olgha and Daria, was stable. It is worth mentioning that this operation is the ninth of its kind to be conducted in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which means that the Kingdom has made big strides in the field of medical services.
