Jordan may soon be able to export goods produced in joint ventures with Israel duty free to Europe thanks to a customs-slashing agreement with Israel signed Thursday. "The customs on the trade from Israel to Jordan will be reduced by one-third and the customs on the Jordanian exports to Israel will be reduced by one half," Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told reporters after he and Jordanian Minister of Trade Industry Ahmad Thoqan al-Hendawi signed the amendment to the neighbors' trade agreement. Olmert said that both sides will continue to reduce their customs gradually until they are brought to zero by 2010.
