GCC Secretary General Calls on International Community to Pressure Houthi Militia to Avoid Safer Oil Tanker Catastrophe, Ensure Maritime Safety, Freedom
Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States Secretary General Dr. Nayef bin Falah Al-Hajraf has called on the international community to pressure Houthi militia to allow a UN team to examine Safer Oil Tanker as soon as possible to avoid an imminent environmental and economic catastrophe. Dr. Al-Hajraf made the remarks today while receiving the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Janet Alberda. During the meeting, discussions went over issues of mutual interest, cooperation priorities between the GCC and Netherlands and exchanging views on means to enhance bilateral ties in a way that serves joint interests. The meeting also addressed regional developments related to accidents in the Gulf of Oman, where both sides highlighted the importance of guaranteeing the security and safety of maritime at waterways, in addition to holding perpetrators responsible for these accidents according to the international law to ensure the non-recurrence of such attacks.
