The United Nations General Assembly is scheduled to hold an emergency session in New York tomorrow to discuss the Israeli attacks against innocent people in the Palestinian territories, including the holy city of Al-Quds, following the failure of the UN Security Council to adopt, over the course of three emergency sessions, a unified statement calling for an end to the Israeli military aggression against the Palestinian people, it was reported here today. The meeting comes at the request of the ambassadorial groups of Arab and Islamic countries, as part of their international political efforts being made to mount enough pressure on Israeli authorities to stop its ten-day -long aggression throughout the Palestinian territories. The move at the UN came within the framework of the Islamic Group's follow-up of the implementation of the decision issued by the open-ended extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee at the foreign ministers level of member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which was held on Sunday May 16, 2021, at the request of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Rotatory Chair of the Current Islamic Summit, affirming that the UN Security Council's failure to shoulder its responsibilities to address this crisis, made it necessary for the UN General Assembly to assume its responsibilities, including the resumption of the work of the tenth emergency special session, to stop the Israeli aggression in the occupied Palestinian territories, including Al-Quds, and take measures to hold Israeli occupation accountable for its crimes.
