In a supplementary statement issued late last night, an official source at the Interior Ministry said five of the deviant group threw explosives at one of the gates of the US consulate in Jeddah at 11:00 am on Monday, Dec 6, 2004, when one of the cars of the consulate was entering the building of the consulate. Following this, they entered the consulate and tried to set fire one of its buildings and attacked persons who were at the scene. With the grace of Allah - the almighty, the concerned security forces immediately took the required action and encircled the members of the deviant group and killed three of them. The remaining two of the deviant group were wounded, and one of them died later at the hospital. This criminal act led to the death of five of the people who were at the scene, they included a Yemeni, a Sudanese, a Filipino, and a Pakistani and a Sri Lankan. Meanwhile, eight others were slightly injured. They included two Yemenis, two Pakistanis, a Lebanese, a Filipino, an Indian and a Sri Lankan. Five of the security men were injured, and some of them were discharged from the hospital. The Interior Ministry would like to announce to all citizens and residents that the security forces are capable of pursuing members of the deviant group and all elements that may try to undermine the security and stability of the country.
