The concerned security forces detected four members of the deviant group at a tent in the desert region of Nafoud Al-Thoweirat, ninety kilometer North of Zulfi Governorate, said an official source at the Interior Ministry, adding that the security forces encircled the site early Sunday, January 9, 2005. "At 7:30 am the security men asked these members of the deviant group to surrender, but they began shooting at security men and then tried to flee aboard a car while throwing hand grenades at the security men. Subsequently, the security men returned fire which resulted in the death of the four members of the deviant group and caused slight injuries to three security men. Weapons, explosives, ammunitions and various documents were found at the site of the incident." The Interior Ministry urged all suspects to surrender, and said the activities of the deviant group only serve enemies of the religion and the country. The official source noted that a supplementary statement will be released later.
