Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Yaum newspaper reported in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's presidency of G20 last year has confirmed its pioneering role along with great efforts in protecting the world from any threatening risks in general, and environmental and climate risks in particular. These efforts are the key factor in adopting the concept of a Circular Carbon Economy (CCE) and setting of the first Environmental Working Group (EWG), the paper said. In this regard, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud confirmed during his presidency of G20 last year that Saudi Arabia enhanced CCE's concept and launched two international initiatives to reduce land degradation and protect coral reefs, the paper further said. HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz recently announced Saudi Green and Middle East Green initiatives, which aim to reduce carbon emissions in the region by more than 10% of global contributions and plant 50 billion trees in the region in addition to many qualitative initiatives, the paper added. These two initiatives have received the praise of the international community and we will work with partners to achieve their goals by hosting a forum for the Saudi Green Initiative and a summit for the Green Middle East Initiative this year, the paper further added. So, the pillars of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 has confirm their capabilities to confront all challenges and risks facing the climate, as well as accelerate existing global efforts to find common solutions to preserve the future of coming generations and protect the planet, the paper concluded. Al Eqtisadiah reported in its editorial that the Saudi economy is among the most successful global models in adopting concepts of a green economy. The international level meetings being led by HRH the Crown Prince within the Saudi Green and Middle East Green initiatives, are among his efforts to popularize the green economy experience and its capabilities to make major social and economic transformations and to create jobs and fight unemployment, the paper added. The success of Saudi Arabia in the producing and exporting of hydrogen and CCE gave it a global leadership, as the major countries, including Germany and Japan, sought to sign agreements with it, the paper further added.
