Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas. Al-Riyadh newspaper reported in its editorial titled (The Green Planet) that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is leading the efforts to protect the earth since its G20 presidency last year. Moreover, the "Saudi Green" and "Middle East Green" initiatives announced by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, are aimed at environmental, energy and climate protection, and contribute to the achievement of global targets, by cultivating 50 billion trees in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, within the largest reforestation program in the world. HRH the Crown Prince had pointed out on several occasions that the Kingdom fully recognizes its share of responsibility in advancing the fight against the climate crisis. Just as the Kingdom underpinned energy markets during the oil and gas era, it is going to become a global leader in forging a greener world. Therefore, during a phone call to President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China, HRH Crown Prince pointed out that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is working to organize an annual summit for the Middle East Green Initiative in the presence of leaders and officials of the environmental field. This thing confirms the Kingdom's pioneering role towards common international issues, as well as the Saudi contributions to protect the planet and preserving the future of upcoming generations, the paper added. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has adopted the circular carbon economy initiative and presented it to the G20 Leaders Summit 2020 in Riyadh. Saudi Arabia also advanced by five ranks in the report Fostering Effective Energy Transition 2021, which was issued by the World Economic Forum yesterday, as this confirms the Kingdom's active role in emissions management and the transition to renewable energy initiatives. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 has attached the utmost importance to protecting the environment and natural resources, and the projects that are in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have focused on the environmental aspects of reducing carbon emissions and combating environmental pollution, in addition to focusing on renewable energy, the paper concluded.
