A seminar under the title of 'Arab and Islamic Education and its Role in the Development in Africa' was organized here on Saturday by Chad-based King Faisal University in cooperation with the League of the Islamic Universities. The seminar's first session was chaired by Dr Abdullah Al-Turki, the Secretary General of Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL). The participants of the seminar reviewed the role of Cairo-based Al-Azhar University in spreading Islamic and Arab culture in Africa, the educational problems in Morocco as well as coexistence between the Muslims and non-Muslims from the Islamic point of view. Addressing the seminar, Dr Al-Turki said Islam advocates coexistence , development and progress. He urged the western researchers to get acquainted with the message of Islam and its role in coexistence, development and enhancing the pillars of peace and security. Dr Al-Turki underscored the importance of learning Arabic, and said it is the only way for reading and understanding the Holy Quran and the principles of Islam.
