Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf met in his office here on Wednesday with UN Secretary General's envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths to discuss the latest developments in Yemen. During the meeting, Al-Hajraf confirmed the GCC countries' firm position calling for ending the crisis in Yemen peacefully according to the agreed upon references of the GCC initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the national dialogue conference, the UN security council's resolution No. 2216, support for Riyadh arrangement and acceleration of its mechanism. He also expressed welcome of the steps taken by the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council to implement Riyadh arrangement to achieve the aspirations of the Yemeni people. He also welcomed the agreement to release 1,081 arrestees and prisoners of war reached between the Yemeni government and the Houthi militia under UN supervision according to Stockholm agreement between the two sides. He expressed appreciation of the UN efforts led by its envoy to Yemen to end the crisis through the reached references. For his part, Griffiths paid tribute to the efforts being exerted by the GCC in support of the UN efforts. The meeting was attended by the GCC envoy to Yemen Mudkhal Al-Hadli and chief of the GCC mission to Yemen Sarhan Al-Minaikher. — SPA
