Borussia Dortmund plunged to new depths on Saturday as they were humiliated 5-1 at home by promoted VfB Stuttgart while RB Leipzig went top of the Bundesliga - at least for a few hours, dpa reported. Giovanni Reyna equalized for Dortmund against the run of play after Silas Wamangituka's penalty but Wamangituka quickly restored the lead after the break. Philipp Foerster, Tanguy Coulibaly and Nicolas Gonzalez then took advantage of poor defending to match Dortmund's record home defeat, the hosts' third in succession at their own stadium. Coach Lucien Favre is under huge pressure after just one win in five domestically to leave Dortmund fifth, five points behind leaders Leipzig. Leipzig's sensational form continued with 2-0 home win over Werder Bremen to take them top, at least until champions Bayern Munich visit Union Berlin, later. Cologne continued their revival 1-0 at second-last Mainz to give themselves breathing space in the relegation battle while Freiburg did likewise 2-0 at home to Arminia Bielefeld. Hertha Berlin drew 1-1 at Borussia Moenchengladbach.
