A magnitude-5.9 earthquake rocked northern Japan on Monday near the area where the country's deadliest earthquake in a decade struck last month. At least eight people were injured. The quake, which hit at 11:16 a.m. (0216 GMT), was centered close to the earth's surface in the Chuetsu area of Niigata prefecture (state), the Meteorological Agency said.
