Abdul Latif Jameel Company Ltd. (ALJ) has received the award of distinction in the field of replacement and indigenization of jobs at the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) level. The award was presented last week at the third annual GCC ceremony in which private sector companies and establishments were honored for their distinctive efforts to replace and indigenize jobs. The celebration was organized on the sidelines of the 21st session of the GCC Ministerial Council of Labor and Social Affairs Ministers held in Kuwait on Oct. 13. ALJ was honored as one of the pioneering national companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its role in expanding and supporting employment opportunities for nationals and encouraging citizens to join the company, as well as for creating a financial incentive and honoraria scheme for its staff. ALJ was also honored for continuing to train its staff on-job and abroad for acquiring state-of-the-art practical experience in modern management techniques. The award was also given because of other incentives given by ALJ to its employees, such as interest-free loans to own housing units. Through its own community service programs, the ALJ offers many opportunities for young Saudis to receive training and qualify themselves for many vocations and also qualify academically to enable them to serve many segments of society in the ongoing program of Saudization.
