In light of the exceptional and difficult circumstances that New York City (NYC) is witnessing in the fight against COVID 19 pandemic, the permanent delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations joined the statement of global solidarity with NYC in the framework of international cooperation to combat COVID 19, expressing peace, appreciation and gratitude to the city that hosts UN headquarters. The statement which joined by 156 UN member states expressed the deep appreciation of the countries and their gratitude to the heroes who put their lives at risk every day to save the lives of thousands of patients of coronavirus infection, stressing their confidence that NYC with health care personnel, police, firefighters and others will overcome this crisis. The statement of solidarity comes as NYC is confronting one of the biggest challenges in decades, where COVID -19 pandemic has significantly spread there, infecting around 140,000 people so far in NYC alone, while infections in the state as a whole exceeded 277,000 and the virus claimed the lives of more than 24,000 people.
