The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen stressed the OIC's support for all the efforts made by its member states to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), praising the precautionary measures taken by member states to prevent and protect their citizens, calling for adherence to these measures and decisions of their countries for the public interest. Dr. Al-Othaimeen affirmed the OIC's support for its member states in these circumstances to limit the spread of the virus, warning of the danger of rumors, stressing that information is to be taken from official sources. He called on the governments of member states, research institutions and scientists of the Islamic world to work, join hands and coordinate in order to accelerate and contribute to the production of a vaccine or a cure for the virus, while many countries in the world seek to produce a successful drug that ends this crisis that threatens the world, stressing its confidence in the energy and capabilities of the Islamic world and its human cadres to work, innovate and produce. He reiterated appreciation of Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) efforts in supporting the member states to confront this pandemic.
