A ten-member Afghan trade delegation has held talks with Pakistan's Minister of State for Commerce Hamid Yar Hiraj on trade matters, according to an official statement. Ghulam Nabi Farahi, Deputy Minister of Commerce, and Ghulam Jailani Popal, Deputy Minister of Finance, lead the Afghan delegation. The Afghan team discussed the issues regarding recently imposed taxation by the Pakistan's provincial government of Sindh and federal institutions like seaport, railways and customs. The Pakistani side assured the delegation that the government would take all necessary steps to address these issues. Hiraj said that the problems regarding Afghan Transit Trade were being sorted out at the highest level of the government and soon a viable solution would be reached. He said that the Pakistan government believed that the Afghan Transit Trade was in the interest of both the countries and it must be facilitated. Both the sides agreed to form a Joint Working Group to resolve all trade issues and evolve a transparent and sustainable trade facilitation system.
