Pakistan's Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday spoke to his Afghan counterpart Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta in New York on the kidnapping of Abdul Khaliq Farahi, Consul General of Afghanistan in Peshawar and the Ambassador-designate to Pakistan. Qureshi strongly condemned the kidnapping and extended his deep condolences on the death of Farahi's driver who lost his life in the unfortunate incident, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported. He assured Spanta that the government of Pakistan was taking all necessary measures for the safe and early recovery of Ambassador-designate Abdul Khaliq Farahi. Farahi is well respected in Pakistan for his commendable work toward promotion of Pak-Afghan relations. Qureshi and Spanta both are in New York with their respective Presidents to attend the 63rd UN General Assembly session.
