A tripartite joint meeting was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Interior in Riyadh today, grouping members of the Saudi security delegation in charge of the file of Saudi detainees in Guantanamo, the U.S. official delegation of the authority controlling the file and lawyers of Saudi detainees in Guantanamo. During the meeting, reports dealing with the latest developments of the cases of Saudi detainees in Guantanamo were discussed. Among the issues discussed were the findings of exchanged visits between the Saudi security delegation and Saudi private lawyers on one hand and the U.S. concerned authorities regarding Guantanamo prisoners on the other. The Saudi delegation, including government officials and private advocates, is planning to meet with U.S. officials in charge of the issue, during future visits to the U.S. to secure the release of Saudi detainees or extradite them to the Kingdom's authorities or send them to appear before justice in the U.S. The meeting comes within the attention paid by the Saudi leadership to the situations in Guantanamo and their instructions that strenuous efforts should be exerted to contribute to ending this ordeal.
