FIRE RESOLUTION ACTIVE AND COMPLETE THE DEPLOYMENT OF UNITED NATIONS FORCES IN LEBANON BY MID-SEPTEMBER (2006). HE CONFIRMED THAT ISRAEL SHOULD WITHDRAW ALL ITS FORCES BASED IN SOUTHERN LEBANON. IN RESPONSE TO A QUESTION ON THE POSITION OF THE UN TOWARDS GUANTANAMO DETAINEES WHO ARE STILL IN CUSTODY, ANNAN SAID THE POSITION OF THE UNITED NATIONS IN THIS CONCERN IS PERTINENT TO HUMAN RIGHTS, NOTING THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS ISSUES SHOULD TAKE PLACE IN GUANTANAMO. ON HIS PART, PRINCE SAUD ALFAISAL, SAID WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS ON THE ISSUE OF SAUDI DETAINEES IN GUANTANAMO AND THE SAUDI NATIONAL CONVICTED BY AN AMERICAN COURT, THAT HIS GOVERNMENT WAS CLOSELY FOLLOWING-UP ALL DETAILS RELATING TO SAUDI PRISONERS IN GUANTANAMO OR ELSEWHERE AND REQUESTING THEIR RELEASE, OR FACING JUSTICE OR BEING EXTRADITED TO THE KINGDOM. WE ARE NEGOTIATING THAT WITH THE U.S. ADMINISTRATION, HE SAID. ON THE VERDICT AGAINST THE SAUDI NATIONAL, HE SAID THE SAUDI GOVERNMENT CONSIDERS THE RULE UNFAIR AND ACCORDINGLY HIS LAWYERS ARE APPEALING TO RESCIND THE RULE AND PRESERVE THE INTEREST OF THAT CITIZEN AND HIS FAMILY.
