Prince Turki bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Assistant Minister of Culture and Information, has highlighted the importance of the first meeting for Saudi intellectuals, and said it aims at drafting a cultural strategy that is capable of realizing aspirations of the Saudi intellectuals within the framework of a comprehensive action-plan which takes into account developments of the contemporary time and the aspirations of the future. In a press statement following the inaugural session of the meeting here on Saturday evening, Prince Turki Bin Sultan said the three-day meeting will focus on various cultural domains including theatre, poetry, formative arts, the culture of the child, music and folklore. He highlighted the significant role that might be played by the media in the implementation of the cultural policies and their spread around the world. He expressed admiration over the patronage of the inaugural session of the meeting by Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Riyadh region and said Minister of Culture and Information Dr Fou'ad Bin Abdul-Salam Al-Farsi had issued instructions to mobilize all available potentials and facilities to ensure the success of the meeting. 'The Saudi intellectuals are respected by the Saudi leadership notably the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, King Fahd bin Abdulaziz; Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, and Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Second Deputy Premier, Defense and Aviation Minister and Inspector General.
