The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Muallami, affirmed on the occasion of the International Women's Month that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's vision 2030 paid great attention to empowering Saudi women in all fields, and this month is considered as an opportunity to shed light on the role of women and their contributions in the Kingdom, especially that Saudi women have proven their efficiency and left a great imprint in all areas of development in their economic, cultural, social and other fields.
The Ambassador added that Saudi women are an essential pillar in achieving the vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 2030, so today we see Saudi women occupying various positions and have become a partner for men in all fields and are a major contributor to building the country.
The Ambassador also stressed that Saudi women receive great care from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and from all sectors of the state, as the Kingdom recently enacted many decisive and important decisions in order to enhance the empowerment of women, and women today have become full citizens, who have the right to get their identity documents - the national identity card and passport - by themselves, and the obstacles to their movement have been overcome and freedom of movement and travel has been given without permission from a male guardian, which has contributed to raising the percentage of women's participation in the labor market from 19.4% by the end of 2017 To 23.2% at the end 2019 m.
Al-Muallami added that on the practical level, Saudi women have achieved many important gains, the most prominent of which was the appointment of the first ambassador in the history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Princess Rima bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, who was appointed as ambassador for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Washington with the rank of minister, and Princess Haifa Al-Muqrin who was also appointed as permanent representative of the Kingdom to UNESCO in Paris.
Al-Muallami pointed out at the end of his speech that the Kingdom's permanent delegation to the United Nations in New York is proud of the presence of a number of Saudi women and young women who negotiate and represent the Kingdom well in the various official meetings and conferences at the United Nations, and they chair committees and sections and important main files, and the delegation will continue its efforts in empowering women and highlighting the achievements of Saudi women in various international forums.
