ALULA — The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) has announced the launch of a women's football development project aimed at promoting women's participation in sports and providing diverse opportunities for female coaches in the region. The initiative is being developed in partnership with the Saudi Football Federation, AlUla Sports Club, the RCU Sports Sector, and the French Agency for AlUla Development. The project includes a series of workshops and awareness sessions targeting 21 participants, including physical education teachers, students from Taibah University, and sports activists. Participants will engage with experts and gain knowledge on key topics such as fitness, coaching techniques, and sports education. The program kicked off with an initial workshop, held in collaboration with the French Agency for AlUla Development, focusing on basic coaching techniques tailored to women's football. The session emphasized skill development and knowledge building. In a second workshop, held from December 8-11 and organized by the Saudi Football Federation, participants earned the "D" license in football coaching. This certification enables them to pursue further official qualifications and enhances their coaching capabilities. As part of the initiative, a mentorship workshop will be held in Madinah from January 3-5, during which participants will work with AlUla Sports Club's women's football team to refine their coaching skills. The sessions will focus on improving their ability to design and execute effective training programs. Following the program, AlUla Sports Club plans to recruit several participants to serve as community football coaches. This will provide opportunities to cultivate a sports culture, improve quality of life, and train aspiring female players, fostering a generation of new talent. The initiative also aims to include more trainees in the 2025 Girls' Schools League and host additional workshops on a variety of sports to expand participants' skills and reach.
