Assailants fired rockets Tuesday at a Pakistani security forces base, killing a soldier and injuring three others in a restive area where the troops have been battling militants, an official said. Two rockets slammed into the army and paramilitary base in Wana, the main town in the South Waziristan tribal region, an intelligence official in Wana said on condition of anonymity. Troops fired machine guns and artillery from a nearby hill toward where the rockets were launched, but it was not known if the attackers suffered any casualties, he said. There was no immediate official confirmation of the rocket attack.
