Pakistan's ruling party Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed has been elected member of the Standing Committee of the 3rd International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) held in Beijing. Sayed, who is Secretary General of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML), was unanimously approved by all delegates for a two-year term, according to an official statement. The standing committee is the supreme governing body of ICAPP. This is the first ever occasion that Pakistan has been elected member of the ICAPP. Sayed, who is also member of the Pakistan Senate (Upper House of Parliament), thanked the delegates for reposing confidence in a democratic Pakistan and also the PML. The Beijing conference that concluded on Sunday issued a declaration calling upon all Asian countries to make concerted efforts for peace, stability and economic development in the region.
