The Minister of Justice and President of the Supreme Judicial Council Sheikh Dr. Walid bin Mohammed Al-Samaani said that the Saudi judiciary preserves and protects human rights and there are many Saudi laws that provide for them, as they are translating the lofty principles of human rights. The procedural systems governing the pleading of the judiciary are rich in stipulating the rights of the parties to the case, at all stages, he added. The minister was speaking, as he paid a visit to the Belarus Judiciary, in Minsk, explaining that one of the judicial guarantees applied by the Saudi judiciary is the right of everyone to litigation, including equality of opponents during the hearing of the case in the Judicial Council, and the preservation of the dignity of the accused and maintaining it, in addition to the basic law of the government, which cherish all rights. The visit falls within the framework of the memo of understanding co-signed by the two ministries of justice in the two countries, last year, in order to bolster international partnerships, taking advantage of other countries judicial experience, exchange of expertise and cooperation in providing legal and judicial assistance and training human resources to attain and apply the best practice, in the domain.
