The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani has condemned the statements of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding his intention to annex lands from the occupied West Bank to Israeli sovereignty, describing them as dangerous and aggressive provocative statements, contrary to the international law, the UN Charter and resolutions of international legitimacy. They also undermine international peace efforts. The Secretary General said that the West Bank occupied by Israel since 1967 is a Palestinian land under the facts of geography, history, the international law and Security Council resolutions, denouncing Israeli violations of rights of the Palestinian people and the continued occupation by the Israeli occupation authority in confiscating Palestinian lands and establishing settlements there. He also called on the international community to condemn Israel's violation of rights of the Palestinian people in the occupied territories, calling on the UN Security Council to take a decisive position to protect the Palestinian people and to stop attacks and violations committed by Israel in the occupied Palestinian territories. He stressed the support of the Council for the Palestinian people, and the legitimate right to establish an independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as its capital, within the framework of resolutions of the international legitimacy and the Arab peace initiative.
