In a speech to the Human Rights Council during the discussion on the item 7 on occupied Palestinian territories, Dr. Al-Wasel has stressed that Israel's approval of the construction of 2,070 new settlement units in the occupied West Bank indicates continuing Israeli aggressions through attacks along with violations of the rights of the Palestinian people and acting in defiance of relevant international legitimacy resolutions. Dr. Al-Wasel also stressed that the alleviating of the suffering of the Palestinian people is one of key constants of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's polices and the comprehensive, fair and lasting peace will be achieved only by the full withdrawal of Israel from all Arab territories occupied in 1967 , establishment of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with the Arab peace initiative and the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy, and there is not any justification for the continuation of this conflict in light of the international consensus to put an end to it based on the two-state solution. He has expressed the KSA's full support for all international initiatives and efforts aimed at saving the peace process, putting an end to the occupation and stopping violations against the Palestinian people, emphasizing that the item 7 on the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories is one of the items approved on the agenda of the Human Rights Council and that this item must remain as long as the Palestinian territories are still occupied and their inhabitants are subjected to various kinds of violations by Israeli occupation forces.
