Bahrain has strongly condemned the announcement of Israeli Prime Minister of his plan to annex Jordan Valley and northern Dead Sea in the West Bank settlements, if he were reelected on September 17. Foreign Affairs Ministry stressed that this announcement is a blatant and inadmissible violation of the rights of the Palestinian people and proves Israel's keenness on obstructing the efforts to reach a just and comprehensive peace. The ministry calls upon the international community to shoulder its responsibility in addressing this announcement. It also reiterates Bahrain's unequivocal stance in supporting the Palestinian cause and in solidifying the right of the Palestinian people in establishing an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the basis of the principle of the two-state solution and in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.
