Border guards in Makkah region have thwarted during the recent period two attempts to smuggle an amount of narcotic cannabis on board two boats. Border Guards Spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Misfer bin Ghannam Al-Quraini explained that Border guards monitored two boats entering the Kingdom's maritime waters and have been dealt with firmly and forcefully according to the requirements of the situation, and resulted in the first attempt in the arrest of three people of Yemeni nationality, while trying to smuggle a load of about 300 kg of cannabis. He pointed out that the second boat was spotted two days after the first operation, where an attempt, estimated to smuggle more than 200 kilograms of cannabis, was foiled and four Yemeni smugglers were arrested.
