A car bomb exploded north of the Iraqi capital on Sunday, killing two people and injuring nine others, including a deputy provincial governor, police said. The car exploded in Khalis, about 70 kilometers (45 miles), north of Baghdad, said Gen. Walid al-Azawi, chief of police for Diyala province. Ghassan al-Khadran, one of several deputy governors working in the province, was lightly injured in the blast, treated at a local hospital and released, al-Azawi said.
