A delegation of the Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL) led by its Secretary General Dr Abdullah Al-Turki, visited today Niyala, South of Darfur Province. The Province's Governor Al-Haj Attal-Mannan briefed the members of the delegation on the dimensions of the problem of Darfur, and said the camps of the displaced people in South Darfur include about 132,000 persons. On his part, Dr Al-Turki reiterated the keenness of the MWL's delegation to contribute positively in resolving the humanitarian problem in the Province in cooperation with other Islamic organizations. Dr Al-Turki underscored the importance of the Islamic solution of the problem in the Province and warned against the cultural and religious activities that might be carried out by some foreign organizations in this respect. 'Moreover, Muslims will not shun their duties with regard to providing assistance to the people of Darfur', he said, highlighting the great attention given by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the issue of Darfur. He pointed out that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, had ordered the necessary relief assistance to the people of Darfur.
