The nine Saudi Ports being supervised by the General Authority of Ports (MAWANI), have recorded an increase in the operational efficiency rate by 15% since the beginning of the current year until the end of February 2019. This increase was achieved by handling more than 44 million tons, an increase of 10.19%, through 1,131,959 million containers, an increase of 6.18% compared to the same period last year 2018. The increase in the efficiency and operational capacity of Saudi ports comes as a result of the recent steps and services launched by the (MAWANI), which aim to raise the level of operational performance and quality of work in Saudi ports. It is noteworthy that the General Authority of Ports is working to make a significant shift in management methods and at the level of operational performance and logistics, in addition to raising productivity and competitiveness in Saudi ports, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
