Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhley here this evening inaugurated the 3-day Saudi Water Forum and the accompanying exhibition in the presence of senior local and international officials in the water sector. In his speech at the opening ceremony, Eng. Al-Fadhley praised the Saudi leadership and its support for and interest in the water sector and its keenness to overcome all the difficulties and challenges facing the water sector, which contributed to the success of the ministry in the implementation of strategic water projects. Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fadhley launched Qatra program, which is a national program to rationalize water consumption in the Kingdom. The launch of the program comes within the framework of the Ministry's efforts to achieve water sustainability as the program supports and promotes the importance of water conservation, rationalization of its consumption and improving the use of the program. Through the program, the ministry aims to reduce per capita consumption per day from 263 liters to 200 liters by 2020 and 150 liters by 2030, and the program will also contribute to changing the behavior of individuals, raising water awareness, achieving sustainable water resources and optimizing investment of water resources through rationalization. During the ceremony, the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture witnessed the signing of 8 agreements and memorandums of understanding between the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and a number of the ministry's affiliated bodies. At the ceremony's conclusion, Minister Al Fadhley honored the sponsors of the forum including the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) as the media sponsor of the forum.
